Town of Dover Draft Sustainability Chapter (Supplement) to the Comprehensive Plan Update is available for public review

At the March 27, 2024 Town Board Meeting, the Town Board adopted a resolution to advance the consideration of adding a sustainability chapter (supplement) to the 2022 Town's Comprehensive Plan Update by approving circulation to declare its intent to serve as lead agency in the State Quality Environmental Review process to interested and involved agencies.

In 2016, the Town of Dover registered with the NYS Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Certification Program. The Town's Conservation Advisory Council served in the leadership role of completing 128 points of approved action items to achieve bronze-level CSC certification in September of 2020.  The Town's CSC bronze-level certification report is available at:

In 2019, the Town received a NYS DEC Climate Smart Communities Certification Program grant to prepare a sustainability supplement for the Comprehensive Plan Update.  Over the past five years, the Town's Conservation Advisory Council has overseen its development under the supervision of the NYS DEC's Office of Climate Change Program.

The Town Board's resolution of intent to declare lead agency in accordance with SEQRA, a brief PPT presentation from the March 27th Town Board meeting, and the draft sustainability chapter are available for public review and attached below.

A public informational meeting to present highlights of the draft chapter and invite public comments will be scheduled and announced for a date in April 2024.
