Dutchess Co. Dept. of Public Works Announces Bridge Replacement on Old State Rt. 22 over Swamp River (near Sherman Hill Rd.) on

The Town received notification today (March 20, 2024) that the Dutchess County Dept. of Public Works will commence replacement of the bridge on Old State Rt. 22 over the Swamp River (in Dover Plains near Sherman Hill Rd.) on or about the week of April 18, 2024. 

The replacement will include a new, wider bridge with 4-foot shoulders and widening of the travel lanes to match the approach roadway.  The portion of Old State Route 22 located between the intersections of Jordyn Lane and Sherman Hill will be closed with a detour posted along Lime Kiln Rd., Maple Lane, Mill St. and State Route 22.  A map of the detour is provided below.  It is anticipate the project will be complete, with the new bridge open to traffic, by the end of this year.
