When can I make in person payments to the Tax Collector?

Payments will be accepted at Dover Town Hall, 126 East Duncan Hill Rd., Dover Plains, NY 12522, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:

• ​January 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30 and 31
• February 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29

Please Note: Collection hours are weather permitting.  Please check the Town's website for updated information.

Payments submitted following receipt of a tax bill through February 29, 2024 are credited without penalty.

After March 1st, the penalty schedule is as follows:

March 1 - April 1 - 2% penalty
April 2 – April 30 - 3% penalty
May 1 - May 31 - 4% penalty plus a $1.00 notice fee

After May 31st, all unpaid taxes are turned over to the Dutchess County Commissioner of Finance, 22 Market St, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-3294.

The Town of Dover Tax Collector accepts debit/credit card payments for Dutchess County Town and County Real Property Bills.

There is a convenience fee charged by a third-party vendor for this service.
The third-party vendor convenience fees are:
Electronic check $1.75 per transaction
Visa, Master Card & Discover Card: 2.45% of total tax payment Visa Debit: $3.95.
