Taxation Exemptions

Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemption

Requirements are based on age (65 years of age by March 1st).  Along with ownership status, residency and occupancy and with a combined income of less than $32,400.  Must renew yearly.  Deadline for filing is March 1st.  Please fill out Form RP-467: Application for Partial Tax Exemption for Real Property of Senior Citizens.


Alternative Veteran's Exemption

A Veteran or un-remarried spouse of a veteran who served on active duty during one of the specified periods of war.  There is a veteran's disability exemption as well, if qualified.  A COPY OF YOUR DEED ALONG WITH A COPY OF YOUR DD-214 IS REQUIRED.  ONE-TIME APPLICATION.  Deadline for filing is March 1st.  Please fill out Form RP-458-a: Application for Alternative Veterans Exemption from Real Property Taxation.


Cold War Veterans Exemption

Property owned by persons who rendered military service to the United States during the Cold War (defined as September 2, 1945, to December 26, 1991).  A COPY OF YOUR DEED ALONG WITH A COPY OF YOUR DD-214 IS REQUIRED.  ONE-TIME APPLICATION.  Deadline for filing is March 1st.  Please fill out Form RP-458-b: Application for Cold War Veterans Exemption from Real Property Taxation.


Agricultural Exemption

Farmland must satisfy certain gross sales and acreage eligibility requirements.  MUST RENEW YEARLY.  Deadline for filing is March 1st.  Please fill out Form RP-483: Application for Tax Exemption of Agricultural and Horticultural Buildings and Structures.
